My Philosophy of Life
My love of stage and theatre and entertainment started at a young age. When I was seven years old, I was voted Mr. Katunayake (skinniest kid) in a New Year’s fancy dress pageant which was my first appearance on the public stage. I sang, played the guitar and organ, and acted in stage plays while at school. As a teenager I learned break dancing and Kandyan dancing and even formed my own musical band. Going to the movies was a much loved childhood activity. The Rambo movies and ET were at the top of my favorite movie list. Born in Hanguranketha in Sri Lanka, my elementary years were spent at the local school in Hanguranketha. Later, I moved to Dharmaraja College, Kandy, where I completed my secondary education. I was a member of the junior cricket team at school and loved to play rugby as well. I was also a member of the school’s Western Music Band. My greatest achievement in secondary school was winning the “Best Actor” award at the inter-school drama competition. This acknowledgment of my acting talents jumpstarted my career in films and theater. Since graduating from school, I have acted in numerous films, teledramas and stage plays. I have also been honored to receive many prestigious acting awards.
